This trip was on our bucket list. My husband had just finished treatment from prostate cancer and we were celebrating his cancer free status. The timing was right and we wanted to do the land portion before the cruise. We has a great time as the destination was stunning.

The ship was just OK as we had sailed on her 10 years ago and loved her then. But after the refit of this ship, we decided it would be the last time we choose to sail on the Island Princess. We noticed that there was always a line for Anytime dining. We always opt for Traditional dining as we like to have the same wait staff each evening.

While we did enjoy the crew, service and food, we did not enjoy the windowless gym or the promenade deck that was chopped off at the aft of the ship to make way for more cabins. There is no International Café in the Atrium, and the coffee bar was small and inadequate for the demand each morning. Given the many choices Princess has to offer as to what ship to sail; we would chose to sail on the sister ship (the Coral Princess or any other Princess ship) before returning to the Island Princess.
