This was my fourth cruise, second RCL and my daughter's 3rd cruise. We flew into Miami from Anchorage the night before and stayed at the Holiday Inn, Port of Miami off Biscayne. Staff was nice but walls were paper thin. Took a cab over to the port around 11am and was on board the ship by 11:30! Went straight up to the pool bar and ordered a Bahama Mama. Nice bartender named Delroy from Jamaica. Our room was ready by 1pm. We had a late lunch in the Windjammer. There were a bunch of choices, including a taco bar which my 11 yo daughter enjoyed. We had our assigned dinner seating at the Moonlight dining room off Deck 3 at 6pm. We had a table of 8. Our waiter was Rohan and we were seated at table 005. Food choices were decent and desserts were great. I stuck mostly with seafood selections. I thought the bar service was quite slow in the dining room. My daughter loved the Adventure Ocean Kids Club. They had sports, science, Wii competition and many more. After 10pm, they charge you $5 an hour up to 2am but it is worth it. She met a bunch of great kids. Ports: Day 1 was Nassau. We got off and walked around, bought a big starfish for $10. I was not very impressed with this port due to pushiness of locals trying to braid your hair and make you go on a tour. They were not very friendly. I had just been on another cruise in January in the Caribbean and did not experience the haggling nearly as bad as in Nassau. We got back on the boat after 1 1/2 hours and enjoyed the pool. We had a big rain shower in the afternoon with thunder but the lounge chairs dried up pretty quick! Next day was CoCo Cay. We must have waited in the stairwell from the 3rd floor for a good 30 minutes before we got on the tender. We enjoyed the island. You can rent air mattresses for $10 that are quite buoyant, my daughter was actually "surfing" on hers without getting wet. There is also a pretty good drink Coco Loco, which are good, but if it starts to melt it is a bit too sugary! They serve lunch on the island, however I was very disappointed. It was burgers, hotdogs and salad, but they were out of several items by the time I got up there. Day 3 was Key West. We shopped and went to the aquarium. They have sharks and turtles mainly, but it was fun. Do try Johnny Rockets. It is a $4.95 cover charge (drinks are extra). It is located on the 12th floor and quite good. The first day we had breakfast in the Windjammer but it was pretty quiet and I didn't care for the eggs. After that we had breakfast in the dining room, which we preferred. It was quiet and the service was fast enough. Sorrento's pizza is mostly crust but alright. The gym is located on the 9th floor, in the spa. They had about four treadmills and several bikes. They also have two weight benches. I usually went in the late afternoon or after dinner, and it wasn't too crowded. Disembarkation was very slow. It took a good hour to get off the boat. Our luggage was easy to find but the line through customs was crawling slower than a turtle for reasons unknown. I did find drinks to be expensive on the boat, but they always are. Our housekeeper, Laila was very friendly and made nice towel animals including a crane (never saw that one before!). We enjoyed this cruise immensely with the exception of Nassau and would definitely cruise RCL again.
