This cruise has been in my bucket list for a while and did not disappoint in the ports of call. If I had to choose a favorite it would be Iceland but all the stops were well worth the visit. The weather for that time of year and latitude was as expected. Alternating rain, sun, sleet, fog and cloudy sometimes all in the same 4 hour period. Dress in layers and it is all good. We elected to forgo the overpriced HAL shore excursions with the exception of the stop in Isafjordur in which we did the calm fjord kayak tour. It was still overpriced but enjoyed every minute of the tour. The rest of the stops we enjoyed walking around the town and taking in the sights.

The ship is mid sized for HAL and has an intimate feel but we never felt overly crowded with the exception of trying to navigate through the herd in the Lido buffet at the height of breakfast. Mostly we ate in the dining room for the peace and quiet although somewhat limited selection of breakfast and lunch. The food was good and some dishes were great but always enough variety at dinner that we never got bored.

The staff are wonderful as always with smiles and greetings everywhere on the ship. Everyone from the housekeeping staff to the bridge officers were excited to cruise through the Prince Christian Sound in Greenland and watch for whales and icebergs. It felt as if we were all exploring this area for the first time. The energy was great.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom

Cabin F

We were upgraded from an interior cabin to an ocean view which was nice until we realized we were above the steel door and platform used for tender ports. There were 3 mornings we were wakened by the door cranking open to set up the tender platform. Not a deal breaker but glad it was only 3 mornings. Otherwise the room was clean, spacious and well attended.
