After reading the reviews, had no great expectations of this ship, however we had no real issues. We had a VIP Early Bird package which included a few useful items like priority boarding, plus room credit, free sparkling wine on arrival etc. Cruise was 10 night PNG out of Brisbane.
We ate in all the restaurants, including Salt and the Chef’s Table. Salt and the Chef’s Table were reasonable for the price. Dragon Lady was OK, but don’t expect anything spicy – even the Thai Yellow curry seemed chili free. Angelos was a bit better than Dragon Lady, but still nothing exceptional. If you had to pay a surcharge, then I don’t think they would have many repeat customers for Angelos or Dragon Lady. Waterfront reminded me of a large 3 star hotel – food OK, tea sometimes lukewarm, service reasonable. We quite liked The Pantry. Ate Indian, Mexican and Thai and these were usually good.
If you have any dietary requirements like peanut allergy, Gluten free etc then make sure you tell them when you book a restaurant. You can check the menu with the booking desk and pre-order your meal, usually the night before.
Room was very quiet, except for some squeaks from I think the ceiling panels. No external noise from the 8th floor. Air conditioning worked and has a thermostat to adjust the temperature. Room had plenty of space once we put the suitcases under the bed. Balcony is bigger than expected with a sun lounge plus chair. The room has only had a minor refresh. Has a fridge which is handy for medicines. Shower over old spa bath with pretty ordinary shower curtain. A bit of a step into the bath if you have mobility issues. Water from the shower always ends up on the floor, but fortunately there are plenty of bath mats etc to mop it up. TV picture was bad, OK for watching the news etc but not a movie.
