We have just returned from Uniworld’s “Timeless Wonders of Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong River” from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi and I would highly recommend it. It was fantastic. From beginning to end we were looked after, picked up at the airport and cared for the whole time until we were dropped off at passport control in Hanoi.

We travelled in September and the weather was HOT to BOILING (in Cambodia in particular). This holiday is for people in their late 50s and 60s or older if you can still manage stairs and hopping on and off coaches/sampans etc. It is not particularly physically demanding on the whole but you do need to be relatively nimble. The River Orchid has steep stairs up to the second level and again to the bar on the third level. The restaurant is on the first level so if you don’t like stairs much I would recommend that level, which is also cheaper.

The cabins are small, as is usual on a river boat, and by the end of the 7 nights we had had enough of the ensuite which, although large enough for one, is no use at all for two. Take a travel washing line as this can be hung from side to side in the ensuite and lightweight clothes dried overnight, which was handy.

Outside Riverview Stateroom

Cabins are quite basic but all you need. There is no TV or fridge.
