3rd Carnival cruise. Instead of 2x a day service as we had on our previous cruises, we were told we had to select either morning or night, ice buckets were not standard. The dining room was never completely full, it took 30-45 minutes to be seated. It took almost an hour to get our entrees, having to ask the asst maitre'd, Elena, to check on them, and after the head Maitre'd, Ramses asked us to try again the next night. Neither one came to check on us although they walked by several times. The staff were very hard working but they were obviously short-handed. There is stained and worn carpeting, scuffed walls, toilets all have gray stains around the water line. The windows are crusty and dirty, and a sewage smell in the hallways of deck 2. We are considering another major cruise line next time. From the dining areas to the cabins to the shops, there were fewer staff than on our previous cruises. The staff were all excellent, there was just too much for the number they had.
Plenty of room and storage. Bed and pillows are comfy.
Progreso is very dirty, and they vendors and sellers will hound you. Very overwhelmed. This port needs a lot of cleaning up, and the vendors need a lot of training on selling without making the tourists feel like they are overwhelmed.
