Our Alaskan cruise was wonderful! The only reason I did not give the cruise full marks was the Carnival Legend ship is worn/tired and our dining service was pretty poor on the ship.

The Alaskan sights were well worth the trip. Our ports of call were: Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria, BC.. The Legend sailed out of Seattle, where we went to the Market and rode the Ferris Wheel. We also played in a great park (Occidental) with our 5 year old and 7 year old. In Skagway we took the White Pass Train 3.5 hour trip, which was gorgeous and very convenient. In Juneau I did the 4 hour glacier trek, where they outfit you and you have a couple hours of glacier hiking. Amazing views from the helicopter and great guide on the glacier. My husband took the kids to Mendenhall glacier via the shore excursion through Carnival. It was easy and their guide through town was fantastic. In Ketichkan we did the Alaskan Lodge Adventure Tour and it was super. We got out onto the water in a speedboat, saw an eagle up close, had a wonderful seafood boil and really felt like we saw Alaska.

On the Legend we went to see the shows almost every night and they were great. The food at dinner was excellent but service was beyond slow. One night we didn't get menus for quite some time and another we didn't receive our appetizers until 50 minutes after our table was all seated. That was extremely frustrating. My kindergartner and 2nd grader just had to order off the adult menu since they stopped giving us kid menus after day 2 of the cruise (and they had ordered off the kid menus day 1 and day 2).

We were in stateroom 5197, which was fine, just worn and not immaculately clean by any stretch. The hair dryer drawer was disgusting and I would not use the refrigerator because it had food particles dried onto the racks and side.

Port Reviews

Victoria

Pretty, but got in too late to do anything with the kids.

Seattle

City seemed very dirty to me. We did the Ferris Wheel and that was fun.
