This was our 4th cruise on the Valor and the first since she came out of dry dock. We've only been on 2 Carnival ships, the Legend being the other. We really like the layout and design of the ship with the exception of the mid ship galley which makes getting to the back dining room a little challenging, but it helps keep your mind sharp, right?

Our overall impression of the dry dock upgrades were very positive. We absolutely fell in love with Guys Burger Bar! It lived up to its hype. We weren't as big fans of the Blue Iguana Cantina as all the options contain a lot of onion (I have a difficult with foods that are heavy on onions, but my wife who can eat them also wasn't happy with what she got.) We both felt the Burrito Bar it replaced was much better. The Blue Iguana Tequillaria and the Red Frog Rum Bar are also nice and in a good location, but we can't comment past that as we didn't partake. The Red Frog Pub was great! My only complaint is it's a bar but it was swarmed with kids - even when David Oates, the soloist was performing, you had kids (teenagers, I guess) running around, loud voices, playing Foosball...you get the picture. It was hard to just enjoy a beverage and listen to the artist.

Our cabin, 6293, was great. We found these square shaped interior cabins on one of our cruises and we now try to book them if available. It makes our life a little easier as the long, narrow rooms seem to make us feel a wee bit more cramped. Also, the location is nearly ideal to get to either end or deck of the ship quickly and easily.

Cabin 4H

I love these interior cabins that are more square shaped than rectangular. They have the same amount of square footage, but feel much less cramped.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Typically one of my favorite embarkation ports. Got there around 11:30 and there short lines. Took less than an hour to get through security and checkin to get aboard. Previously we were on the Lido deck 30 minutes after dropping our bags.

Grand Turk

Walk to the end of the pier, turn left, walk through the shopping village, then find the beach, a chair, and the water. Waiters from Margarittaville will come by to take your orders. Beer and food are pricey, but you're on vacation, right?
