I chose this cruise and line because I had often heard about the beautiful Norwegian fjords, and I wanted to sail with an international cruise line (i.e., not one that caters mostly to Germans). Our port of embarkation was Kiel, Germany (we live in Germany).
I was disappointed to find out afterwards the MSC offers free shuttle service from the Kiel main train station (Hauptbahnhof) to the ship. We had to walk nearly a mile, pulling and carrying our luggage, in order to get to the ship.
Once we arrived, the embarkation process was easy and quick. Our room and attendant were both excellent. The room was clean and quiet. We enjoyed the balcony very much. Our room attendant was very friendly at all times and sensitive to all of our needs and requests.
Clean, quiet, but tight for space.
Cute little town. We wanted to go to the Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen), but we got off the ship too late. If you leave the ship as soon as it docks, you should be able to make it there and back in time.
Go to the Visitors Center in Flam and book a boat ride to Gudvangen through the Naeroyfjord. If you love waterfalls like we do, you will be awe-struck.
Beautiful city. Could have spent more time here. Would love to return someday.
