Sail Date: Jul 2016
Cabin: Deluxe Veranda 1B

We chose this cruise as first timers and our travel agent suggested Celebrity as a good first timer brand. Agent was spot on, Celebrity Equinox mid ship cabin on deck 9 with a veranda. Cabin was pretty spacious and had plenty of storage space for everything we needed. Bathroom was good with a proper shower.

Embarkation was efficient and we soon got to grips with the system of getting round the ship, ordering food and drink etc and generally finding out 'what was what'. Staff are always polite and helpful, really faultless.

Celebrity are a slick operation and offer great food and entertainment; I suggest taking the drinks and gratuities package as these will add up if you don't have them included at the start. Dining options are plentiful and the standard buffet and waiter options are good enough for the majority of people.

Deluxe Veranda 1B

Cabin 1B

Good size for three people, could have taken four. good position at midship on the 9th deck.

Well kept by the housekeeper and his assistant.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

No chance to look round as you are straight from airport to ship; efficient though but not a chance to look around Rome.

Florence (Livorno)

Did not use Cruise excursion, used TuscanyBus company, they wait right outside as you get off and offer the same tour for 1/3 the price. We visited Florence and Pisa.

Villefranche

We liked this place and took the train to Nice, again independently. Much cheaper than the ship tour. Train is 3 or 4 Euro return and takes 7 mins each way.

Corsica (Ajaccio)

Shortest time in port and easy to see why; we found this place okay but nothing exceptional. Just walked around a bit, looked at the market and that was it.

Ibiza

Overnight in port so we went round town and saw the night life then came back next day for shopping. Ship offers a 2 day bus pass for 15 Euro per person, a bit pricey but needed as the walk from the ship to town is too far.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Similar to Ibiza, coach transfer for 5 Euro and needed. Plenty of shops and coffee shops.
