Chose this cruise because other family members had made that choice. The ports of call were great choices and we decided to join them. The best thing about this ship and cruise line is the rooms and the ship itself. The worst thing is the food in the buffet. The only thing hot is the oatmeal. Fruit good, deserts good. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, all cold. Bacon not cooked good, either too raw or over done. Still cold, even when they brought a fresh pan, Cold. Pizza is good but get it fresh. Pasta dishes are cold and the eggplant parmesan cold and dried up. No microwaves to warm things up either. Salad bar good. Water good, tea good, Coffee strong.

If you are assigned to a dining room and are in port at that time take advantage of it. Much better food and waiters give great attention to details. The pasta was better there, choices were good. Prime rib and beef dinners were the best. They even gave me some spaghetti to take to the rooms for my sick niece. Even after our dining time. Your time may not be able to be changed. My reservations said one time but my MSC card said another time. Water is for purchase only in the dining rooms. If you have a water voucher, they will use that at the table. Any other beverages are purchase only.

If you want excursions and don't mind a little haggling, find taxi drivers at the port exit. Had excellent drivers, but expect windy roads and hot destinations in the summer. Tell them where you want to go and they take you. If you want to just shop, tell them Busses won't do that. A taxi can get you closer to the destination than a bus or train can. They even have specialized parking for them that the regular cars do not. Some drivers will point out famous spots, but because of limited English others may not. We had a French, Spanish and Italian Driver in separate ports and each was different but helpful and more exciting than a bus. The road down to Monaco is a fast, windy road. Hold on.... Same if you go along the Italian coast.
