We chose this cruise to explore the islands of the eastern Caribbean. Last year we had a great experience on the Carnival Breeze visiting the southern Caribbean and so decided to book with Carnival again. Although the islands were absolutely beautiful, I have to say the cruise itself did not compare to the experience we had on the Breeze. The cruise director on the Facination did not create the energy and fun cruise director Matt was able to create on the Breeze. We always saw Matt out and about interacting with passengers as well as hosting daily deck parties and other activities. The cruise director on the Facination was far less engaging. There was only one sail away party on the first day and one deck party during the 7 day cruise. Our waiter in the dining room was also less than friendly. He obviously connected with the guests at the table next to ours because of similar nationalities and blatantly took thier order before ours even if we arrived at the table sooner. In spite of this, I have to say most of the food was delicious. Twice during the cruise the wake-up call system did not work which made us have to rush to our port activities. We were not told we needed ID's in addition to our sail-away cards to get back on the ship until we were getting off making us waste more time by having to return to the room to retrieve ID's. I thought lack of communication was evident on the Facination and although I loved the ports we visited and also experienced plenty of friendly, helpful crew members, I have to give a thumbs down to the cruise director as well as some of Facination's staff.

The Cabin as kept clean and our steward as very attentive but it was old and the bathroom had a musty smell.

Phillipsburg is beautiful. Lots of shops! Beach also lovely but it rained and so stayed in shops most of the day.
