Cabin: Balcony Stateroom with Bath/Shower

Chose this cruise as travelling with parents who are nearly 80 (unsure whether a cruise would suit them and mum unsteady on feet), partner and son age 6. Thought it would be a good tester cruise for the wider family. Booked a balcony room so son could have a "proper" bed rather than a pull down one. Also thought we would be able to sit on balcony while son slept. Unfortunately when the sofa bed is made into a bed it blocks the balcony and the only way to get to balcony is to climb on bed; which would wake son and is not practical with arthritic joints - disappointing and left feeling the extra paid for balcony room was a waste of money. Tender was further to shore than anticipated. Timed crossings from our cabin and they ranged from 5-15 minutes. Typically ours took 15 minutes as we had to bob around on the sea for 10 minutes while a cat was allowed into harbour first - not good for poor/nervous travellers.

There seems to be contradictory information provided regarding luggage allowance - literature ranged from 20kg, 22kg and 25kg so we were unsure what the actual limit was. Also found contradictory times for restaurant opening hours and as a result missed breakfast at the Medina Restaurant and had to go to Horizon - where we noted pork sausages were labelled as beef sausages.

Ate in the informal restaurant (Horizon) on the formal night and was disappointed with the choice of food available - roast pork (which the server offered as beef) or chinese food. On the first night we ate in the Medina Restaurant which was lovely; great service and a good choice of food. We also tried breakfast here which was very tasty but if you ask for sausage, bacon and egg thats exactly what you get - 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon and an egg which looks rather lost on the huge serving plate.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom with Bath/Shower

No access to balcony when sofa bed out.

Limited access to bath/shower due to walls.

Plenty of storage

Port Reviews

Southampton

Guernsey was lovely but on a par with most other seaside towns. The shops etc were walking distance from where the tender drops you as was the fort which you could easily walk to if you wanted to explore this. Local buses and taxis on hand so booking a tour through P&O not essential.
