We chose this cruise for the itinerary of British Isles. The ports on this are amazing. Husband and I enjoyed each and every one. This is a very port intensive cruise. We are a active couple in our early 60's.

We chose a partially obstructed room on the Emerald deck midship. Room E406 gives you a pretty good view of the water! We were very content and pleased about the size of the room. Extra large area for hanging clothes and even a full amount of shelves for folded clothing. Bathroom was small with the previous comments about a very small shower. Be forewarned if this is an issue for you. It was not for us. This room was very quiet. That is important for us. Never heard a bit of noise other than an occasional child running down the hall. Love midship and also very convenient level for disembarking for shore excursions. I had read previous comments about the mattress being worn out. Not an issue in this room. The bed was very comfortable.

The entertainment for the evening shows were of good variety and quality. We only took one Princess shore excursion which was on the last day. We had never seen Paris and being such a long drive from the pier felt it best not to risk trying that on our own. It was expensive but we chose the Paris drive and river cruise. I would highly recommend it for those who have never been. Yes it was worth the money. The remaining excursions we hired local people. That has always been the best value in our experience.

Port Reviews

St. Peter Port (Guernsey)

Loved this little port. We did not go to the castle but instead walked around the quaint little shops. Very enjoyable. It is hilly so expect some exercise! Stopped in the local post office and bought a postcard to send back to the States.

Cobh (Cork)

Did a off ship tour with a local tour company. We got to Blarney Castle before the crowds and there was much less waiting to get into the castle. Had a great time. It was a bit rainy but just come prepared with a rain jacket that has a hood. Umbrella was used. The Blarney Castle grounds are beautiful and the small shops across the way have reasonable prices. We stopped at a local vendor for ice cream and sat on a park bench a bit.

Dublin

Our transportation plans fell through. So we missed a scheduled walking tour. Ended up getting the Princess shuttle for transport. Just stopped into a local pub for a couple of beers. Husband was not interested in taking the HOHO bus and we were still very much suffering from jet lag. Went back to the ship.

Greenock (Glasgow)

Discover Scotland Tours was amazing. Highly recommend to go online and research.

Edinburgh (South Queensferry)

A group of us hired a private coach to transfer to and from the ship. First thing dropped us off at the Edinburgh castle. So arriving early we beat the crowds of people a couple of hours later. Do get the recorded commentary. We did not and wish we had as it would have been more meaningful. Proceeded after to walk the Royal mile and do a bit of shopping.
