Carnival Cruise Lines provides good price point for the trip to Alaska. In this case the outside pools and sunshine were secondary to the schedule and the port. Carnival has been steady in its delivery for our family. The food is dependable, But modest in terms of quality. The staff is superb, and yet the rooms were stale and worn. We did get a drink package for the cheers program. Think carefully about this option, you have to be serious about booze to get your moneys worth. The entertainment was standard wanna-be Hollywood talent… But again lovely and very talented people considering it's a cruise line. The port and port docking was easy and on time. All excursions, two of them, booked through the ship, were done well. We bought a separate excursion in Skagway, for glacier point. Will write more about that later. Disembarking and embarking was easy and relatively fast. This ship is slightly smaller, at 2500 passengers. That makes it easier to get around.

We traveled with two teenagers, and found that their kid program was lacking. But most 15-year-olds don't want to go to a special club. We found the trip safe, and would go to Alaska again. This is a great starting point for seeing Alaska. My next trip there will be slightly better luxury and I'll drop the kids at home.:-)

P. S.… the staterooms had been fumigated prior to our embarkation. Our room smelled like a can of Raid. However, it made me feel better overall, and the smell dissipated as we pulled out of port. It is so hard to be on a ship an be organic about anything. It is Full of disinfectant and that is good. But if that kind of thing bothers a passenger, then Crusing may not be the solution. Carnival has been doing a good job to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Cabin Review

Premium Balcony

Cabin 9B

The cabin is standard Carnival issue… really needs updating on the Legend. However our steward was superb, and everyone knew what they were getting in my family. It was a pleasure not to be surprised. I do wish that carnival would overhaul their colors and fabrics and finishes. But the bed was comfortable and clean and sheets were soft, towels provided and extras if needed.

The rooms we chose allowed for an adjoining suite for the girls, we had the balcony, they had the two twin beds in a separate room connected to us.

Port Reviews

Victoria

This town is so beautiful, I am glad we got off the ship to visit. It is worth the trip even if you are exhausted from your wonderful Alaskan cruise. The flowers and shops are lovely. We arrived in evening so we could not squeeze Inn excursion. Lovely to walk around and see the grand Hotel, And other beautiful restaurants and stores. Many of the stores did close early so if shopping is your deal, get out early and get downtown. We were able to pick up a round-trip minibus just outside of the cruise terminal. I suggest you began as a walking tour then pick one of these kind family business who do the bus tours in summer.
