We'd wanted to visit the fjords for a while but didn't want to sail from Southampton. This cruise went out of Amsterdam, great range of short flights and good place to start. We were a bit dubious about booking with HAL as previous experience on the Oosterdam was pretty bad. The Konigsdam is a beautiful ship, well laid out. We liked the sofa seating round the pool and the couches on the upper pool deck. Although the ship was full we always got the type of seat we wanted.
Our cabin was comfortable and well appointed - it is a new ship after all. We liked the shower - room for the generously endowed to turn round with banging into the walls. Our stewards were efficient and friendly, without being overfamiliar or obsequious. This attitude was common to most of the staff, and probably came from the top. The captain was often out and about around the ship. I even liked the cruise director, which was a first.
We liked the Dutch cafe, a great place for a tasty snack or light lunch. Breakfast in the Deli on deck 10 was a great place to escape the Lido restaurant which could get crowded.

Verandah Stateroom
Comfortable. Nice to get new linen, towels etc. On some ships we've been on the sheets have been darned and the towels a bit thin. This level of cabin no longer has a bath. As a bath fan, I think this is a good move. The showers are spacious, no more bumping into the shower basket or having the curtain wrap round you. Good water pressure in the spray.
Cabin was under the pool deck so there was some noise, but never at night. We could hear the TV from the cabin next door at times.
The overhang was a bit of a nuisance when taking photos of the fjords.
Good service from the stewards.
