Like others have mentioned, we were a little hesitant when booking this cruise due to the mixed reviews we read. The price being so much lower than other cruise lines with similar itineraries was what ultimately convinced us to book with MSC. We are so glad that we did! It was a wonderful experience.
Embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth and quick. We arrived on the ship about 2:00pm and were able to go to our room right away. We received our luggage a few hours later. We also used MSC to airport transfers from/to Ft. Lauderdale, and that went well also. I did have to call to arrange these, but I got through right away and had no problems.
We had balcony cabin number 9085. It was far more spacious than we anticipated (larger than on our last cruise with Princess) and the balcony was extended! It was probably 3-4 times the size of other balconies and it was perfect. The room was so clean and laid out really well. So much storage, and plenty of space to move around. My parents were in 9225, which also had an extended balcony, AND a full sized bathtub. Very nice rooms.

We hated this place! In retrospect, we wished we had taken a tour to get us away from the touristy area. The people along the beach (nearest the ship) were so aggressively trying to sell us things (beach chairs, drinks, even COCAINE!!) that it really ruined the experience for us. It was nonstop, and they didn't quit when you told them "no thank you" and tried to walk away- they kept walking with you. We quickly went back to the boat.
The beach was nice and an easy walk from the ship. A nice place to swim! We found a local restaurant (Fish Fry) and tried some deep friend Conch balls. The bus/trolly takes you back to the port for only $1.25 per person.
