Sail Date: Jun 2016

Excellent crew members of the Viking "Star" who catered to every passenger as if they were the only ones on board. The food, cleanliness of facilities, entertainment were exceptional. We are usually tough graders and unaccustomed to giving high praise. The overall experience was simply "awesome." We were somewhat apprehensive after reading the reviews prior to sailing. None of the criticisms materialized as the crew's professionalism and competency negated any pre-conceptions. The ship, cabin and room service get an "A." The dining experience at each of their restaurants, especially the "Chef's Table" was remarkable. Unequivocally, the food and drink was as good or better than most 5 star restaurants in Washington DC. The entertainment and activities were commensurate with the age of the passengers. The classical guitarist, pianist and the trio ensemble were great. The highlight of the crew was the intimacy of a smaller ship (930 passengers) and omnipresence of Viking Staff willing to serve and paying attention to detail. Irrespective of their rank, the senior staff were equally vigilant in picking up a piece of paper or clearing the table when needed. The ports and attendant excursions were well chosen and thoroughly enjoyable. The three ports in Norway is a bit too much, especially if you finish there. Highly recommend eliminating one of the ports. The Viking experience surpasses all our earlier ones. Yes, we already signed up for another one and looking forward to another great experience.

Cabin Review

Cabin VI

Clean, ample room and came with a balcony. The stewardess was simply awesome along with the complimentary room service. Thanks for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Port Reviews

Bergen

Highly recommend taking each complimentary excursion offered by Viking. Bergen, can be traversed on your own. We did and proved to be fun.

Stavanger

Recommend eliminating as three stops in Norway is unnecessary. This is especially true if Bergen is your port of debarkation. After seeing all different countries, may be a rough way to finish with three ports in Norway.

Copenhagen

We ventured on our own and had a great time. We visited most of the recommended sites and wish they offered an overnight.

Berlin

Excellent experience where one can visit for a week and just sample Berlin's rich history. WE mostly did it on our own.

Gdansk (Warsaw)

Hailed a cab and went to Gdansk where the driver provided all the charm and history of this beautiful city.

Tallinn

Easily walkable and what a great city. Thoroughly enjoyed the town, its people, food and shopping.

St. Petersburg

Retained the services of a travel company who in a two day excursion thoroughly immersed us in the richness of Russian history and way of life. More economical as we toured every landmark and were ushered in ahead of the large crowds because we were a private party. Any apprehension of trusting our tour guides was quickly overcome as we didn't have to pay until the second day. We bypassed any/all shenanigans because of our guides who accommodated any of our shopping, sight seeing or eating desires. We used Dancing Bear from the website and would highly recommend their services. Cruise members who retained other companies were equally satisfied with their choices.
