I feel like this ship, or perhaps line, was out for the almighty dollar more than customer satisfaction. For the capacity of guests on board, there are not enough public spaces. I was unable to get a reservation at a normal dinner time in the included restaurants (which I am sure RCI prefers, as it filters guests into the pay restaurants), it was difficult to walk through the esplanade due to the amount of people, it was difficult to get a drink at the outside bars, we were unable to get a chair (even though there are supposed rules to it) during the day outside, and we were unable to book events, even though I checked online daily. In fact, the only one I was able to book had to be canceled because of weather.
The food in the Windjammer was sub-par with not much variety, especially considering this should have been better quality since many guests were forced to eat here who were unable to get reservations into the included restaurants. The service was of lesser quality than other lines/ships that we have been on. The crew was either negative, complaining about the ship/their peers/guests and grumpy or pressing for additional tips. Our cabin steward introduced herself when we first got there and wouldn’t leave our room until we gave her cash. I mean she stayed an excessively uncomfortable amount of time…until I gave her money!
If you weren't able to get a seat in a prime location, pay additional price for an experience, or able to get booked into a show, your options were pretty limited. I have never spent so much time indoors and in my stateroom as I did on this cruise. Considering the price of this cruise, the quality and value was of an extreme disconnect. This was our first and last RCI cruise. There were issues from the time we arrived (having to sit in the check in area for over two hours) to the time we left (we asked for the latest possible debarkation and got the earliest!).
We did our own thing on this island. The first day we golfed at Port Royal, which was amazing! The second day we did a jetski tour at Somerset Bridge Watersports which was very accommodating and a great experience!
There were issues from the time we arrived. We had to sit in the check in area for over two hours due to a "technical difficulty". Traffic is horribly bottlenecked as you come into the port.
