This was our second RC cruise and ninth cruise overall. Embarkation was smooth. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. We boarded around 13:00 and our cabins were ready. We dropped off out carry-ons and headed to the Windjammer buffet. There were plenty of tables for our family of 5. There were plenty of food options but the lunch menu seemed limited. The food quality over all is on par with Carnival. Disney and Princess have much better food, IMO.
We had assigned dinner seating (early) and it worked out for our family. The service was excellent but the food quality/taste was just okay. I'm guessing that it's not easy to cook for 4,000 people. Cruise ships have definitely cut back on food quality and ingredients. The food tasted like it was missing quite of bit of spices and seasoning. Let's just call it a "sit-down Hometown Buffet", if you know what I mean. As big as this ship was, there weren't enough complimentary food around the ship, except for pizza and pastries from the coffee shop (ok, room service also but every ship has that). Every cruise that we've been on, there was food at the poolside; this one has bars everywhere. It'd be perfect for a booze cruise! There was a whole lot of upscale going on. Clearly, they just want your $$$! The best meal we had was at the buffet on the night we left Jamaica, which doesn't say a whole lot.
I purchased the "surf 'n stream" wifi pkg before sailing and it was 30% off. It's not super fast but pretty decent for a cruise ship. I was able to stream videos and movies on Netflix and YouTube. We also purchased a couple of Royal Replenish pkgs. It's not very cost effective but it was nice to be able to have any non-alcoholic beverages anytime.
Avoid the 3rd floor and avoid any cabins that are below the Mexican restaurant unless your are deaf or you can sleep with ear plugs!
Just ok
