Embarkation went very smooth. Our plane was almost 4 hours late and we almost missed the ship! So there was virtually no one in line other than us. The staff at the Port could have been a bit friendlier but they were very efficient and got us on the ship quickly. We enjoyed a glass of champagne and headed onboard. Our cabin was ready since we were so late so we dropped off our things and went to grab a bite to eat in the Garden Cafe. My daughter swam for a bit at the T-Rex pool. It was raining as we left Miami so the party scheduled by the pool was moved to Spinnakers. My daughter enjoyed the various dances the staff taught them while I enjoyed an ice cold Corona. My husband took a snooze. All but one of our bags arrived by 4:00 pm. The missing piece was delivered by 7 pm. It was my fault - because we were late embarking and rushing to get tags on everything and onto the ship - I missed one bag. They matched my luggage name tag to the cabin though and all was well.

We ate Mahi Mahi in the Venetian the first night. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but extremely efficient. Our dinner and dessert was very good. After dinner we went to the cabin and fell quickly to sleep.

Sunday was our first sea day, Easter and time for the CC Meet & Greet which I had coordinated. My daughter went to the kids' club for Easter egg coloring - which they did not have although it was in their schedule. She was a bit disappointed but quickly got over it when we went to see the Easter Bunny. He gave her a chocolate bunny, stuffed animal and of course took a photo. My husband signed up for Internet access and I went shopping. We went to the Meet & Greet at 10:30. About 50 of the 76 people that RSVP'd were in attendance. NCL provided juice, tea, coffee, water and pastries. There were 8-10 officers and/or heads of departments including the Captain that attended. They each said a bit about their role on the ship, answered questions, and welcomed us to let them know if there was anything they could do to make our cruise more pleasant. We caught a part of a cooking class and then the rest of the day was spent lounging by the pool, eating, drinking, swimming, eating... We went to the Captain's Cocktail Party that we had received an invitation to. We then had Easter dinner at Venetian's. This was not as good of a meal as the previous evening. The service was great, but the food was over cooked on this particular night. Between the 3 of us we had lamb, salmon and ham. Monday we went to Samana. We did an excursion with Casa Dorado to Playa Rincon. It was about a 45 minute taxi ride and then a 10 minute boat ride. It was so beautiful and peaceful! I had a massage on the beach for $25. It was about a 45 minute head to toe massage. The 3 of us had lobsters for lunch which was $25 pp. My husband's was a bit overcooked, but mine and my daughter's were delicious! My daughter had the crown of her hair braided for $20. On the trip back the driver stopped for coffee and various souvenir shops at our request. We had dinner at Le Bistro that evening as I had purchased the anniversary package. My daughter joined us and they only charged $7.50 cover for her. It was a fabulous meal!! We were running late for the show so had to skip dessert - although they did squeeze in singing Let me call you sweetheart and giving us our cake - I thought my hubby was going to die when they started singing - I guess I forgot to tell him about that detail. The Gleason magic show was fantastic and had humor in it for all ages. A bit of walking around the ship after the show and off to bed we went.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BB

Lots of closet space, drawers and hangers. Storage space under beds. Great balcony but having 3rd person in room - the pullout bed is in way of balcony so in morning I had to crawl quietly over bed to get outside. No biggie.
