This was our second cruise, but the first on this ship. On the positives, the ship was spotlessly clean and the staff were fantastic.

The cabin crew and restaurant staff were really excellent, friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful. I never got bored during the 14 days of the varied choices and cooked really well. There were sugar free and gluten free options and everything was labelled and beautifully displayed. That was a highlight.

The entertainment cast were great and having one of them Chris, sing us out of Venice was another hi light and very magical.

Cabin Review

Cabin Various

The main problem we had was that we had Room 558 which was an outside cabin with a port hole. We specifically requested an outside cabin. Like many of the rooms it was a twin room. The corridor smelt of diesel. The room was TERRIBLE. It was REALLY NOISY and VIBRATED the whole time. It has the engine below it, the generator at the side and the kitchen galley above. I appreciate they have work to do but hearing trolleys being scrapped across the ceiling throughout the night is just not acceptable when you are on holiday. I can't believe Thomson offer this room out. It should be used as storage. We complained several times throughout the first night and had the receptionist's come visit. They admitted it was bad but could not move us. We got the impression that this was not the first time they have had to deal with complaints about this room. We ended up walking around the ship til 4 in the morning trying to find a quiet sofa to sleep on or a sunbed that wasn't tied up. After a day of travelling to board the ship this was not ideal. The same thing happened on the 2nd night and having had little sleep we were very upset and felt our holiday was ruined. On the third morning we were moved to an inside cabin. It was a better double bedded room but unfortunately I had a panic attack for the first time in my life and couldn't sleep there either. Thomson did refund us the difference between the two rooms for that week only. I had to sign a form to say I would not take it any further. There is more to the story but I won't go on as I think it is sufficient to say to avoid this ship and in particular room 558. At the start of our 2nd week we were moved to a cabin mid ship where we finally had some good nights sleep and enjoyed the rest of our holiday but felt that Thomson had not really looked after us very well at all.
