I chose this cruise because I am a loyal Royal Caribbean customer. I've been going on cruises with them since I was 8 years old. I am now in my 40's and beginning to take my 3 children on them. This was their second time cruising to Bermuda, but first time for all aboard the Anthem.
The Anthem was just too large and crowded.Stick with smaller ships with Royal Caribbean. To begin, the staterooms were much larger than expected and we loved having the balcony. The updated, more spacious bathrooms are a big plus. Service great, no problems there. The only area where we ran into problems was entertainment and onboard activiites. I spent a great deal of time, making these reservations months ahead of time, only to find out that my schedule was switched around onboard. Showtimes were rescheduled to different times, without enough prior notice. Very annoying since I had planned my day around them. Our character breakfast reservation was mixed up. We were put down for DAy 2 instead of DAy 5, which I scheduled. Although we were able to attend DAy 5 after all, it was such a hassle with Guest and Dining services to get resolved. No one should have to waste time doing that on vacation. I was disappointed that North Star could not accommodate all guests and that bumper cars did not run more frequently, especially the days we were in port.
As far as Dining, the food was excellent. Service was acceptable, but not entirely like we were used to on previous cruises. I do prefer having a main dining room, instead of rotating thorugh 4 restaurants each night. Making the dining reservations online was a nightmare. The only way I succeeded was having a Royal phone rep do them for me, after he and I both continually got locked out of my sailing reservations. Website definitely needs to be improved in cruise planner area. Not easy to create reservations.
Extremely clean and very updated. Bathrooms much more spacious compared to the smaller ships in the cruise line. Balcony was great to have! I was mid-ship, so very quiet and very little to no motion felt. Stateroom attendant was excellent.
It is updated from prior years that I have been there. Embarkation is much easier. I loved walking directly to the gangway and getting on the ship. Two years ago we had to take buses to the gangway to board the Explorer of the Seas. The employees are much more friendly and knowledgable.
I thought it was very easy to get around in Bermuda. There was an ample amount of taxis, buses, ferries and boats to take the guests from the ship to places around the island. The locals were friendly and eager to help guests from the cruise. The shopkeepers were friendly and very interested in the travelers visiting. My family and I were able to find reasonably priced souveniers, despite others saying Bermuda is expensive.
