Intro:
it was just myself and my husband traveling on this cruise; we are in our mid-50s and live in Texas. While we wanted to see Alaska, we also enjoy the "onboard experience" that a cruise provides and the Ruby had received good reviews, so that factored into our choice of ship. The round-trip Seattle itinerary initially appealed to us for the ease of flying in & out; however I now think that a one-way might have been a little bit more enjoyable since it would have "spread out" the Alaskan ports a little more (rather than having them all clumped together on days 3, 4, and 5).
Pre-Cruise:
The very last cabin on the Starboard side of the ship, it had an extra-large (roughly twice as long as normal) covered balcony that allowed us to look out to the side AND aft towards the wake. The cabin itself was a standard mini-suite with ample storage and very comfortable bed. It was quiet; we never heard any noise from above or below. The only slight negative was that the sofa looked like it had really seen better days and felt worn-out when we sat on it (really needs to be replaced).
