We were looking for a land -cruise tour of Alaska and considered several lines. HA had the dates, stops and price we wanted. We took the D1 package with a view cabin. The cabin was adequate and the bed was comfortable. The couch was comfy, but very little on TV but that was OK as we spent little time in it. We took advantage of the Windows, classes, the towel folding class, a cooking demo and more. We took the open seating dining option and ate most of meals in The Rotterdam, sometimes at our own table and sometimes with others. The food, service and presentation were awesome. The Lido buffet and Dive In were both good as well, but we enjoyed the unusual selection and the service in the dining room. Our cabin steward, Yudi, kept everything in great shape - and knew our names after meeting us briefly the first night. We especially enjoyed Phil the Piano Man in the Mix Lounge every evening. The embarkation and disembarkation at each port was well organized and fast. The land portion of the package was also excellent. We took the Glacier Safari in Haines, the whales and Mendenhall glacier in Juneau, the Mt Roberts Tram in Juneau - skip this, the lumberjack show and the Bering Sea Crab Fishermen in Ketchikan. All were great except the tram - car is too crowded to see out, views up above were obstructed by machinery and we had limited time - if you are a hiker there appeared to be some great rails at the top. My favorite was whale watching, my wife's favorite was the Bering Se Crab boat. Holland America did an awesome job with details - transfers were smooth, luggage was always where it should be, tour guides met us as promised - I would do it again!

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom

Cabin D

Small but the only time it felt small was when we were packing to leave. The shower worked well. Great steward. Comfy bed and couch.

Port Reviews

Glacier Bay

We stayed up close to Margerie Glacier for an hour. The views were outstanding. Some calving going on. Views in the bay were awesome.
