We chose this Alaska cruise on the Regatta for a few reasons - generally good reviews and reputation of the cruise line, the itinerary, and the excellent deal we got from our travel agent. We absolutely loved it! Only our 2nd cruise and the first one for our traveling companions (my brother and sister-in-law).

Embarkation was very easy and we got a table outside on the Terrace Cafe as soon as we boarded for some lunch. It was a gorgeous day in Seattle - sunny and not too cool! Our staterooms were ready on time but we lingered a little longer and toasted the start of our cruise with some excellent Prosecco. We then headed in to unpack - and our stateroom (PH2/8007) was gorgeous! It was spotlessly clean, superbly comfortable bed, lots of storage space and beautiful bathroom. Also very quiet even though it was opposite the elevators. We invited our family down for the departure and had champagne (complimentary) on our veranda while we left port.

We ate at Toscana that night - it was amazing! Slept so well in the bed that night with some gentle rocking as we headed for the Inside Passage. Our next day at sea was beautiful - we had good weather and the scenery was just stunning. Breakfast in the Terrace Cafe was delicious - all well prepared and good variety. Loved the coffee (espresso or cappuccino on request). The tea was not great - the water just not hot enough to really brew it well and I'm not a fan of Twinings. We also enjoyed our meals in the Grand Dining Room (one breakfast had to be sent back as eggs were not cooked as ordered but it was very quickly remedied).

Cabin Review

Penthouse Suite

Cabin PH2

Very comfortable and spacious. Seemed newly updated. Everything clean and tidy. Tons of storage space. Bathroom was excellent - it does have a tub (which we didn't use) that could make it hard for some folks to manage getting in/out. Lovely amenities from Bulgari. The live orchid was a nice touch. Location was excellent - near the forward elevator but still quiet. One floor down from the pool deck and under the smoking area but NEVER heard anything or smelled smoke. Bed was super comfortable - we asked for two extra pillows and they were promptly delivered. Huge windows and nice veranda with two chairs, footrests and a table. Appetizers/canapes delivered in the afternoon were nice. For Alaska, suggest you bring some duct tape to seal up the edge of the curtains - sunrise was around 4AM!

Port Reviews

Wrangell

The town is very small but nice to get off the boat and wander around. The museum is worth it to learn the local history. Had fresh fish and chips lunch at Zak's which was good.

Seattle

What a great city. Don't miss the EMP Museum!!
