Four of us went on the Rhine River cruise, my wife, myself, daughter and son-in-law and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We each wanted different things, experience with German culture, river cruise experience (no waves like on an ocean cruise), meeting old friends, and visiting historical, cultural or natural beauty sites. We got everything we wanted and then some. Great food and service on board (the crew was outstanding), nice morning tours and opportunities to do other activities in the afternoon. Spotless accommodations and we met some wonderful people -- great atmosphere with 180 or so passengers and perhaps 50 crew so a great ratio of staff to visitors. Tours were arranged very professionally with great local tour guides who provided lots of ideas about lunches and places to visit after the official tour was over.Wonderful breakfast, lunch, and dinner service with generous beer/wine at lunch and at dinner. Have already recommended these types of tours (with Viking) to many folks who eagerly asked. We might not be going again soon but that's because of impending grandchildren, but hope we can do something similar again in say 5-10 years.
