I will start by saying that despite other reviews that I have read describing the ship as "tired" or "poor", I found the Caribbean Princess to be in excellent shape. Yes, there may be a few scratches, scuff marks or dings but all in all, it is extremely well maintained. While on our voyage, they continued to paint and varnish to keep everything is good order.

We booked this cruise based upon all the wonderful ports that we would be visiting and we were not disappointed, We originally booked a mini-suite but when offered an upsell to a penthouse suite, we took it. There are many added amenities that come with a full suite and if one is financially able, I would recommend it. We have previously traveled in inside cabins, obstructed views, balcony cabins and now, for the second time, a full suite. I will not review the ports here as this is a review of the ship but suffice to say, we enjoyed each and every port.

Penthouse Suite with Balcony

Cabin S3

We stayed in the Grand Cayman Suite A751 which is located at the back of the ship with a rear facing balcony. The suite is quite large, with a separate sitting area with a couch, end tables and a coffee table. There is a bar area with plenty of storage (we pre-ordered a water package at quite the saving rather than buying a bottle each time we went onshore), The fridge and bar comes stocked and is complimentary unless one requests a refill. The suite also features a walk in closet, a separate bathtub (Jaccuzi tub) and shower. The sink and toilet are in an adjoining room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom area can be separated from the living area with a curtain. There was more storage available than we could ever fill.

One of the nicest features of the room is the large balcony which comes with a table for four and two lounge chairs. We ate a couple dinners and one breakfast at the table overlooking the ocean.

The room steward (Celdone) was extremely attentive and a couple nights when we ate dinner in the room, he looked disappointed that we did not want turn down service. The room was always kept very clean and well stocked. We also received two different towel animals, something we haven't seen for a while on numerous cruises. As the suite comes with laundry service, we took advantage of the service on several occasions. The laundry was always returned within 24 hours.
