We are frequent cruisers and have cruised on most cruise lines. We have avoided Carnival previously just based upon our observations at other ports. We chose this cruise because only Carnival and Holland go to Grand Turk and we wanted to give Guy's Burgers a whirl.

The Good - Bang for the Buck, Carnival is a budget vacationers dream. And for the same standard price on another cruise line, you can cruise in a much higher cabin category on Carnival. The ship personnel whose job it is to interact with passengers in the dining areas and cabins are world class. Both of our servers and stewards were first class. Also we are foodies and I must say the food options and food quality on Carnival exceeded most cruise line and totally smoked the food quality we had on our Disney Cruise in January. Yes, the Main Dining does get old, but there are enough alternatives to allow you to mix it up. There were a couple of notable side entertainers that were great, such as Martin the piano guy, or the group that played in the atrium to a small audience. The rest of the entertainment falls to the below sections.

The Bad - Those who work on the ship who are not in a direct customer role range from distracted to irritated by any passenger approach. We were verbally accosted by one, Becca, when we walked on Deck 4 (after being told to go there by another crew member). When we tried to explain ourselves we were treated like criminals. This is an adult ship. So, if you are an adult who wants to drink, gamble, smoke, and listen to banal attempts at crude humor in every imaginable venue, to include those with children present, then this is your ship. The headliner group presented some of the worst entertainment we have ever seen. Bad singing, bad dancing, bad acting. The Cruise Director falls into the potty mouth category who made sexual innuendo in every opportunity he was handed a microphone.

Cabin Review

Ocean Suite

Cabin OS

Great Cabin ! Quiet, and the steward, Phillip is world class! Our adjacent cabin, 7249, did have a continuous drain problem that was never resolved, despite repeated requests to maintenance. Nasty drain water backed up every day. Some problems on the deck, smokers (rules not enforced) and security had to get involved with two domestic issues, one on the other side of us and one down the hall. For some reason they took the blanket approach and involved us in the discussion. Disconcerting is an understatement.

Port Reviews

Half Moon Cay

One of the best of the Cruise Line islands ! Make sure this is on your itinerary !

Grand Turk

Spring Break gone wild. Many used Margaritaville as a place of excess. Get away from the immediate off-ship stop and go down the beach or rent a cheap conveyance. Beautiful island once you get 500 meters from the dock.
