Cruise was supposed to end in Istanbul but at last minute changed to Athens (due to terrorist attack), while this change caused some effort in rescheduling, it did not take away from the overall experience. Booked a Celebrity City stay for the days before departure. Was an excellent decision and gave us a chance to visit Delfi and the Acropolis in a small (just my wife and I) group tour and all transfers (airport to hotel, hotel to boat, boat to airport). That Celebrity did not cancel tours due to group size is a tribute to them. With the exception of entertainment our experience with the cruise was excellent. The shows were dreadful, the headline entertainers OK, and other entertainment was typical cruise ship stuff. On the positive side the music alternatives were good with concerts on the lawn an absolute delight and the glass shows were an interesting alternative to the regular entertainment. Embarkation was the best we have ever experienced with disembarkation also extremely easy. Having cruised with Celebrity before, we expected that there may be some unevenness in service, but we did not experience it in this cruise and, in fact, service ranged from very good to exemplary. Our shore excursions were better than expected and gave us a taste of the Greek Islands (Santorini and Mykonos) and an excellent overview of Ephesus. Food quality and service was consistently very good or better. Finally, for a ship that was at or near capacity, it still retained an intimacy that we look for in a cruise. Even on the one sea day, there was room on the pool deck.

Beside the major entertainment the only other downside to the cruise was that July in Greece is hot and sunny which really isn't much of a downside.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

Nice cabin with sufficient space for two but might be crowded with more. Bathrooms laid out well with lots of storage. Same can be said for the cabin, no lack of storage. Reclining chairs on veranda were nice although space is relatively limited. Only negative to cabin was its forward location and distance from elevator and dining options (that are basically aft).
