This is my first review. I am a first time British cruiser, 36 years old professional chap, who was, as I suspect many are, a little bemused by the number of alarmingly poor reviews on this site. It does make me wonder why some people go cruising in the first place if they hate everything. I have just come off Royal Princess for a seven night itinerary in the eastern Med and was not sure what to expect given the poor reviews this ship has had. Nonetheless I went with an open mind and wanted to make my own judgements.
The consensus is/was, according to the poorer reviews on here, that the food on Royal Princess is average to middling and not as good as other Princess vessels, the cabins are minute and the balconies so tiny as to not be worth bothering with. The lifts are so poorly placed as to make moving deck to deck a real traumatic nightmare and overall the ship is a huge seventeen deck disappointment.
I must say I think all of those things are inaccurate.
Very nice. Not huge but spacious enough and very comfortable. Great value for money I thought.
Embark was fine, no issues. Lovely to watch the shipping come past.
Amazing. Just amazing.
Lovely port and nice little tender ride ashore.
Was sad to get off the ship and the long wait for taxis was not ideal.
Make sure you head out of the port area - there is lots to see
