First things first. You don't take a three night Carnival cruise to Nassau because you're looking for the ultimate in luxury, demand gourmet food, and are irritated by children on cruises. As long as what you're after is a quick getaway for some fun, you won't be disappointed on the Victory.
My boyfriend and I took the kids, who are 3 and 5, on this cruise. The ship, although starting to show its age, was well maintained and clean. The smell that other reviewers noted was there occasionally on certain parts of the ship. The staff is the same, friendly, fun loving staff we appreciate from Carnival. We had adjoining balcony cabins on deck 11, which I do NOT recommend because it was LOUD at night. The Serendipity deck was directly above us and we were directly across from the entryway with the elevators. The pro was being right around the corner from Camp Carnival, which the kids adored.
Food was standard Carnival fare. High points were: omelets at breakfast, and my boyfriend enjoyed the eggs benedict. Lunch: Roast turkey sandwich from the deli was carved, like eating Thanksgiving leftovers. I had it twice in three days, it was so good. Dinner: I ended up paying the $20 surcharge for surf and turf on one of the nights where I wasn't super impressed with the menu, and I was pleased. The temperature was just right on the filet mignon, and the lobster tail was cooked well. Room service was disappointing-- it took several attempts to get the phone answered to take an order, and my grilled cheese was soggy.
DO NOT PICK THIS CABIN! We chose it because we wanted adjoining balcony rooms and it was what was left when we booked. It is loud, right next to the stairs and elevator, and directly below the serenity deck. The cruise was great, but I've always slept well on ships in the past, and this was the worst sleep I've gotten.
