I needed a one-week round-trip Los Angeles cruise on June 11th when my 2 LA-area mid-teen grandkids were available. To my surprise, Carnival was the ONLY cruise. While I frequently cruise, I had not been on Carnival in decades. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't generally like large ships but large meant except pool area seating nothing was overcrowded. Our cabin size was adequate for 3 (one being a teenage boy). We were in Your Time dining & thought the food was very, very good. Service was excellent. Activities were varied - always something to do, if I wished. The major shows were okay, though nothing more. The comedians' shows were excellent. I'd grade embarkation a C- but disembarkation an A. I've been on a Mexican Riviera cruise several times & was on it again only because it was the only available cruise, so I had been on most of the offered excursions, taking 2 excursions on my own but joining a last-minute ship offer excursion for a hop-on hop-off bus trip in Mazatlan. They should have offered that long before getting to Mazatlan. The kids joined the 'Club 02' activities. My granddaughter was more pleased with that than my grandson. I was not happy that almost all of those activities were late at night with little in the daytime offered for their age group.
