Well, At the last minute,my wife and I booked this cruise. I wasn't sure a 20 year old ship that is small by todays standards would interest me but we really had a great time on the Grandeur of the seas.Having 2 days in Bermuda was nice because we didn't have to rush around to get back to the ship on the first day there.Make sure to get the public transportation schedule and use the buses and ferries to get around on your own. (avoid taxies) On the weekend a ferry only runs to Hamilton and if you go on sunday, most shops are closed and the few that open will open at 1pm. We took the 8pm glass bottom boat excursion which cruised back to the ship at night which we really enjoyed.
Our dining experience was excellent, and we really enjoy "My time dining". Romar and Eiki were our waiter and assistant waiter for the full 9 days and they were great! We found the shows to be really nice and better than expected.Be sure to see the disco celebration show ..that was a lot of fun. This ship only has approx. 2,000 passengers and it never really seems over crowded. The food in the Windjammer was good,we ate breakfast and lunch there. The late night snacks at the park café were good also with our favorite being the nacho's with cheese and meat. Wilfred was our stateroom attendant and he supplied me with ice for my fold up cooler which kept my beer ice cold for the full 9 days , he did an excellent job keeping the room clean and neat which we really appreciated.
I read reviews about the ship being worn or weathered but the inside of this ship was revamped in 2012 and still looks very nice I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of the newer ships but we would cruise on it again for sure!
Cabins are smaller but the frig worked far better that the last 4 ship we have been on.
easy embarkation very organized and smooth..
Busy Caribbean city, ok for shopping..try the pirate museum on your own,the kids will really like it. Plenty of taxies and buses to travel on your own. Also, other activites can be booked as you enter the city.Travel in groups after dark or late night.
