Hi, just recently got back from an Island cruise around the pacific. Embarkation was a little confusing, more info from P&O on the process would have been great. Embarkation was well organized. The ship is dated, however, had most things we needed. We had a mini suite, bottled water is a cost, but only around $20 for 6 1.5 litre bottles, so worth it. No special invites to the officer cocktail party, included laundry service, I think this is only for suites, which the Pacific Jewel does not have. Our cabin assistants left us towel people when island hopping, and turned down the beds at night with a chocolate by the bed. Balcony is the way to go, however, be careful where they are as you can get a lot of noise from people moving the deck chairs around, and rearrangement of furniture packup at the end of the day.
We dined mostly at the WAterfront Restaurant which was more pleasant than the Pantry, food at the Pantry was mostly bland, apart from the Mexican. Asian dishes were particularly bland. Salt restaurant was a great treat, but around $200 for 2 including a modest bottle of wine.
Entertainment was ok, some evening shows were quite good, others not so. They had an 18+ Comedian, who used more expletives than needed. Billy Connolly does the F word and it's amusing, Mick (can't remember his surname) was not. Trivia was popular amongst the guests, but one of the presenters could not even pronounce common words, needs to read his script. Also, because it was so popular, they couldn't accommodate all the people who wanted to attend. Get there early.
Very clean and comfortable. Had some noise at night with furniture being moved, but mostly ok.
