My husband chose Celebrity, because we'd both had a very good experience sailing with them five years ago on the Solstice. We also really enjoyed being Spa class and having access to Blu. He wanted his mother to experience it, too. Overall, it was still very good. Blu was usually excellent with only a few weak courses during meals. Our cabin was nicer than five years ago. Our bed was much softer. I was able to sleep better than I had. I also really enjoyed our deck, which may partially be due to the weather. The excursions were a lot of fun. I particularly liked the one to St. Paul-de-Vence. Our guide was very knowledgeable, plus the entire artistic nature of the town was quite a treat. Our guide to Pisa and Florence, Maria Grazie, was also very good, very knowledgable. She made sure we stood in excellent spots in the crowded Accademia to get a good photo shot of the David, plus she took us through many pretty, picturesque streets in Florence, which weren't too crowded. Murano's was lovely. It's delightful to know there are still restaurants where you can eat excellent food and get pampered within an inch of your life. The entertainment on the Celebrity Equinox was excellent, particularly Ancora and 'Elysium'. George gave a very interesting lecture on art history over the ages, too. Service was first rate. I'm delighted we went with the Celebrity, that we got to sail on the Equinox, and that my mother in law got to experience it.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

Our cabin was an improvement from five years ago. I slept much better on the last cruise, due to the beds being softer and much more comfortable. I loved sitting out on our deck, watching the sunrise over the Mediterranean. I'm going to miss that! Also, I loved the little touches of having a bottle of champagne in our room, when we first came on board and getting the canapés in the afternoon.

Port Reviews

Corsica (Ajaccio)

I was a little bored here, especially since we were visiting on a Tuesday and Musee Fesch was closed. My mother in law thought it was lovely and relaxing, so that's good. I bought some first rate torrone in a little shop I just walked into, which didn't make it home. The breezes were very refreshing, which ran through the town on such a hot day. It was a very pretty port, more relaxing than some. I'm more of an art nerd who likes to go and see things, which is one of the reasons why I was a little bored. If you want to relax and take it easy, it's a great port.
