We chose the Ovation of the Seas as this is a brand new boat only completed in April. We flew to Singapore from Australia to join the ship for the cruise to Tianjin in China. Check in was so smooth we were onboard and enjoying lunch in less than 30 minutes. It was a good itineray sailing from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam), Hong Kong with an overnight stay which allowed extended touring (& shopping), Xiamen (China), Seoul (South Korea) & disembarking in Tianjin (China).
This is a Quantum class ship so it has similar features as it's sister shio Quantum of the Seas withthe Bionic bar where technology meets mixology. Two mechanicla arms work togetheras robotic bartenders. You place your order on a tablet and you can choose from their range of cocktails or create your own. Also the North Star, a capsule that carried us 92 metres above sea level provided incredible sights especially in Singapore and Hong Kong. On sea days it carries guests above and over the ship which was amazing.
There is plenty to do for all ages. We tried the Ripcord by iFly where we felt like we were parachuting, the Flowrider tested our paddleboard skills, and we felt like kids again chasing each other around the SeaPlex area in the dodgem cars.
Comfortable and roomy with lots, and lots of storage space. Large flatscreen TV, good sized shower with glass door, and good sized balcony with chairs and foot stools. No more sliding your Seapass in and out of the door to enter as all you have to do is scan it and your in. Reasonable size safe to secure your valuables.
Exciting city with so much to see and do. We ventured out on our own and used the Hop on Hop off bus which took us everywhere we wanted. We especially loved the shops in Orchard Road (well my wife did!!) and had a delicious Singapore Chilli crab in Chinatown. The Clarke Quay Marina is a good spot to have a cool drink and some lunch.
Having an overnight stay allowed us to visit many parts of Hong Kong which is fairly easy to get around by taxi or the subway The costs are very reasonable especially comparing it to the costs of taxis and public transport in Australia. We used the courtesy buses on offer from 2 of the major department stores to get to the centre of the city and ventured out from there. Plenty to see and do along the waterfront and we stayed after dark for the light show between the buildings on both sides of the river. My wife loved this port as it was another great place to shop at reasonable prices.
