This was our 21st cruise and our 3rd on Princess. I wish you could give 1/2 stars because I would have rated the cruise 3.5 but it did not deserve 4 stars. Remember that average or average plus is not the same as bad.
Pros: The public areas were quite nice, the beverage package was a much better deal than the one on Celebrity, the Norman Love desserts were delicious, desserts in general were very good. i loved the escargot and the goat cheese soufflé appetizers and the lobster entree. Our mini suite had excellent storage and it was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever had on a cruise. The 2 nights that we spent in Vancouver with the tour to Victoria and Buchart gardens was outstanding.
Cons: We had anytime dining and dined at 6PM (we had young children in our group). Dinner usually took at least 2 hours. The assistant waiters were responsible for getting the cocktails and my husband's request for Kahlua and cream resulted in some strange deliveries. The breakfast and lunch buffets were not as good as others we have had. Our cabin though spacious was "tired". When we were in port, we had to guess what deck we were leaving from. No announcements were made. There was no track so we had to walk outside on the Promenade deck. There was a horrible odor on the starboard side. Fortunately we were port. On 2 occasions members of our group ordered the salmon from the "always available" menu and it was so over cooked as to be inedible.
The decor was tired, the amenities consisted of the shampoo and body wash dispensers and a tube of body lotion. The location was very good. We were midship, port side, aft of the elevators.
