Port of Charleston is near our home (less than 2 hrs drive) and all our previous cruises with Carnival have been great. We traveled with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson, his first cruise. We had connecting rooms that made it easy for our daughter and husband to enjoy late evenings out while we were so close to our sleeping grandson. We treated everyone to the Chef's Table and cannot speak highly enough on this meal/evening. Everyone ought to try it.
The only negative experience was on the last day of the cruise. The water slides were drained and did not open until after 2:00 P.M. which left our grandson frustrated and disappointed. Not the best experience to end a cruise on.
The port of Charleston is unique in that the city itself is a great place to visit and explore on it's own. Parking at the port is usually under cover and your vehicle is stored out of the weather. While some boarding processes are different from other pots, Carnival has made it easy to arrive and depart.
