Based on the great experience with Celebrity Summit last October to Canada, we booked a back- to- back cruise to Bermuda this May. It was my husband's 75th Birthday and so we treated ourselves to a balcony cabin. The Summit was in for refurbishment in March 2016 and the Solarium was to be renewed. Unfortunately, we met up with several disappointments with our accommodations and the ship. It took until Friday of the first week of our cruise for them to replace the rollers on the extremely stiff sliding door to the balcony in our cabin, however, the balcony itself was never swept clean and the broken hinge on our closet door was never fixed - I got tired of asking...

From the second day of our cruise I showed an officer the unclean condition of the steps leading down into the thassotherapy pool and told him the last step had a slimy feel - repeated visits to Guest Relations desk did generate two phone calls saying they were working on it, but I saw no change! Streaks of rust were coming down from the vent on the wall opposite the pool... I wish I had had an iPhone to take pictures of it, but I didn't.

Major changes were made to the Delightful Bistro on 5...no more special daily entries. however, we did have lunch there and the wonderful service and quality of the food we ordered was such that we still ate there 5 more times. I hope it isn't true, but I later heard that it is going to be replaced with a Sushi Bar. Celebrity is now fitted out for 1st, 2nd & 3rd class exclusively which gives a down feeling to the cruise. Loyalty rewards is a great concept, but "after thought" class distinction is not. The Normandie is gone and replaced by the Tuscan Grille which is like an Olive Garden restaurant chain. So many trips on Chandris & Celebrity - we've booked our next cruise on Holland America...

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B

First Steward was pleasant, but could not get cabin problems fixed. Second steward was pleasant but he could not get closet door hinge fixed or balcony swept - very frustrating.
