Embarkation was a piece of cake. We were on the ship in a matter of minutes of arriving at the port. The ship is one of the smaller RC ships - which we enjoy as a couple. Children on the ship wished for a bigger or 2nd pool. The cabin we chose had a large balcony, very clean and comfortable. Dining was always good with Chops being our personal favorite. From the cabins to the Windjammer, to Chops, the service, as always with RC, was impeccable.
Entertainment on RC cruises is usually awesome. This was not the case for this cruise. The cruise director wasn't fun or exciting. She was so-so. The nightly shows were second rate at best. The RC singers and dancers were okay, but they had 2 performances - neither of which had enjoyable story lines (The first performance didn't seem to have any story line. We left 1/2 way through.) The headliner show at the end of the week (husband and wife acrobatic show - don't remember their names) were very good.
We were disappointed in the amount of time we had in Athens. When we booked the cruise, it said we had 12 hours. By the time we got on board, it was 10 hours. That wasn't even the case. Docking took some time and we ended up with about 8 hours. We enjoyed our time, but needed more to see all that we wanted to see.
Chose this mid-ship cabin because its location on the ship made the balcony about twice the size of the normal balcony. We had 2 lounge chairs, a small table and 2 chairs with plenty of room to spare.
We did not take a RC excursion. Port was total chaos. Views were magnificent.
Lots of shopping and views.
Not enough time. We did a bus tour and got off at the most important historical spots. We could have used another day in Athens.
Good shopping, food, views.
Stayed 4 days after the cruise in Rome (not at the port).
