We chose this cruise two years ago when we heard that Viking was going ocean cruising. The destinations were some that we were interested in and our previous experience with Viking River Cruises had been very positive. The ship, Viking Star was gorgeous the public areas are not about glitz and glamor but comfort and relaxation. The emphasis is on casual not formal, there are no formal occasions, a plus in my opinion. The food in all of the dining venues was delicious Manfredies and the Chefs table dining options were superior and there is no additional charges (reservations are required but seemed to be easily obtained). Service was friendly and excellent overall. The included shore excursions provided an overview of the cities that we visited. We added a couple of optional excursions which were some of the highlights of our cruise. We had a guided tour of the Hermitage if St. Petersburg that was truly enlightening, our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. A visit to the chocolate factory in Tallinn Estonia was also a lot of fun (if you do this excursion the candy in the store is GOOD and Cheap, a little over a pound was just over 3 euros). Overall it was a fantastic experience and we are looking forward to our next Viking cruise ether river of ocean.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Veranda

The cabin was nicely appointed and included a stocked mini bar with alcoholic beverages. The veranda was large enough for a table and two chairs with room enough to move around to see the scenery.
