Just returned from Uniworld's 14 day "Portrait of Majestic France" itinerary. This is a "back-to-back itinerary" with 7 days on the River Baroness on the Seine River from Paris through the Normandy region and 7 days on the River Royale that covers the Bordeaux region in the south of France. This itinerary also included an escorted Train Transfer on a GTV Train between Paris and Bordeaux.

Our experience is that Uniworld's brochures are absolutely true when they describe the exceptional service that their staff provide. Both ships were always spotless and the food was exquisite. The Shore Excursions [included in the Cruise Fare] are PHOENOMENAL, (if anything they are underrated in Uniworld's brochures).

As noted in previous reviews, River Ship cabins are not as large as their Ocean Counterparts. In addition, River Ships do not offer the large stage shows but do have enjoyable musical entertainment every evening after dinner. There are also evening Port Talks by the Cruise Directors describing the next days activities in thorough detail. Embarkation and Disembarkation were both handled extremely well. There is free WiFi on board but the bandwidth is limited (fine for text emails but blocks most graphics and entertainment streaming)

Cabin Review

Standard Stateroom with French Balcony

Cabin 1

The cabin is small but very well decorated. There is adequate storage for all the clothes we brought for a 14 day trip. Suitcases stored easily under the beds. The bathrooms are also small but well appointed. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was luxurious.

Traveler Tip: Although there is 110V/50Hz in each cabin, North American passengers should bring a couple European [two prong] plug adapters for their many electronic device chargers.
