Port Reviews

St. Peter Port (Guernsey)

ON OUR OWN - Did Victor Hugo House Tour - wonderful. Did City Bus Tour around the island perimeter and saw all the sights for 1PD. Gardens at top of the hill very good. Street Food & Craft Fair on Riverfront. People very friendly.

Cobh (Cork)

ON OUR OWN - 2-3 hrs in COBH. Toured Cathedral, Museums, Culture Center and Titanic Experience was outstanding. Took train to CORK. Walked city, CORK International Gourmet Food Festival in City Hall - Free was outstanding. Excellent shopping. People very open & friendly.

Liverpool

Did city HoHo...found out that Princess had a free HoHo that went to same stops....lol. St George's Hall, Train Station, very good. Cathedrals very impressive. Albert Dock Museums and shopping very good.

Greenock (Glasgow)

ON OUR OWN - Brief walk through Greenock shopping district - took train to Glasgow. HoHo around Glasgow. Most impressive city. Enjoyed Glasgow Cathedral, St George Square shopping district, Glasgow Green & People's Palace. Best stop was KelvinGrove Art Gallery. OUTSTANDING - saw a pipe organ concert. History of UK's #2 City wonderful in all aspects.

Le Havre

ON OUR OWN - Princess Shuttle was $32. We shared taxi for 4Euros total. Walked back (Princess would have you believe it was long, difficult trip to town. Took us 10 minutes to walk back from center of town!. Natural History Museum free, Notre Dame Cathedral amazing church & history. ShipBuilder's House Museum - 7 story round house truly an architectual treasure. Fun and informative. NOTE: We were just too tired to do 5hrs on a bus to Normandy or 6 1.2 hrs to Paris....we will do both on a river cruise or Paris Visit later.....

Southampton

Stayed at Grange Tower Bridge - centrally located at London Tower Hill district.

Dublin

Took Princess Shuttle to University Area. Book of Kels & Old Library outstanding. St. Stevens Green large, old, with character. St Patrick's Cathedral Tour Amazing. Guiness Storehouse - big overcrowded and bid disappointment....basically 40 dollars for 2 beers in standing room only pub at the top. Would not do it again. Dublin Castle and shopping very good. Dublin too spread out - very large city and not enough time.

Edinburgh (South Queensferry)

ON OUR OWN - Took NEW BUS SERVICE 20 yards to left of pier. OUTSTANDING VALUE for time and money.(15 dollars / euros or 10 BPS round trip). Buses back every 30 minutes. Brand new service that met cruisers needs in high quality fashion.

Edinburgh Castle outstanding (took back counter clock wise hike to Castle per local area resident recommendation. 1/3 the walk and 1/3 time to get there. We were first 5 people in line and arrived full 20-30 minutes ahead of others. Great time - informative and fun. Did Royal Mile Walk to Halyrood - Big disappointment Queen there so everything blocked off and Parliment big disappointment. However excellent shopping, and Princess Street Green & Gardens was outstanding. Beautiful city. needed more time there to see it all.
