I had not cruised with Carnival in over 10 years. As a travel agent I sell A LOT of their cruises but I personally have been a Royal Caribbean fan. We decided to check out the Vista because she looked amazing and we had been wanting to sail in Europe.

Ship:

We were very impressed with the layout of the ship. With over 4000 people sailing, no area ever felt crowded. We enjoyed the outdoor seating areas and found moving around very easy.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8B

Cabin has plenty of space for a couple and would be fine with up to 3 people. We had plenty of hanging space and appreciated being able to store our luggage under the bed. We also really liked that the shower curtain didn't stick to us! We would have liked a little more space on the balcony. The negative was the balcony door. It slammed shut. It also would have been nice to be able to turn on the cabin speaker to hear the announcements if we wanted to.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We flew in a day early and stayed in a Boutique hotel on Las Ramblas. We explored on our own and ate a couple of times in the market.

Taormina (Messina)

Most of the town was closed due to it being a Sunday. We walked off and were able to get an inexpensive tour of the city from one of the local tour companies. We watched the clock tower at noon while having gelato from the shop right on the square.

Naples

We used www.RomeCabs.com and could not have been more pleased. Our driver was a native of the area and took us to the most amazing secluded restaurant way up the cliff so we had amazing views of the Amalfi Coast. He also took us to the Limoncello factory as well as his favorite spot for gelato. We were back at the port with plenty of time to spare.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We used www.romecabs.com here as well. Having the private driver allowed us to see more of Rome than we would have on the ships excursion. We also had arranged for a tour guide for the Vatican and were very happy to have her. Our driver also arranged for a lunch reservation at the restaurant I had inquired about prior to travel. Again, we were back at the ship with plenty of time to spare.

Florence (Livorno)

We used www.romecabs.com here as well. Our driver was very aware of changing traffic conditions and adjusted accordingly. We visited Pisa first, then he took a scenic countryside route through Tuscany to take us up to Florence. He also suggested a great little spot for lunch. Again, we were back with plenty of time to spare.

Marseille

We used the last minute shuttle to town that Carnival provided. We spent time walking along the water front and doing a little shopping. I found the REAL olive oil soap that I was in search of. We had time to enjoy some amazingly fresh seafood and crepes before heading back. There was a level of excitement in the air as France was playing Germany that evening in Marseille for the Euro Futbol finals.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

We were able to walk over to a nice shopping mall and then spent some time sitting on the patio of a local shop having Sangria. Relaxing afternoon and we didn't feel rushed. It was nice to have WiFi access in the port building so we were able to call our children.
