This was a perfect cruise to take our granddaughter on, so she could visit all the Hawaiian islands. We flew into Honolulu a few days early and since flying from east coast, gave us time to adjust to time zone differences. Stayed at Marriott Waikiki, very enjoyable. On Saturday, we took a taxi to the port. First of all we read mixed reviews regarding the pride of America, regarding both the ship and crew. Let me start this review by saying, we are frequent cruisers, mostly on celebrity and holland. This was a first on any norweigan ship. Our service was excellent, from our cabin steward to the restaurant staff. Our cabin was perfect, we booked a penthouse suite. Plenty big for the three of us. we were able to eat at Cagneys steakhouse every morning and lunch. Service was superb, and the food was very good. We ate a cagneys for dinner twice, bistro once and the Italian restaurant once. The food was very good. Food was as good as celebrity and holland.
I guess we booked this with really no expections based on the huge differences in reviews. We absolutely have no complaints at all. I guess the only somewhat bad experience we had, did not really involve the cruiseline. We went to the main dining room to eat one night and they placed us in the middle of the dining room around large groups. They were not only extremely noisey for dinner atmosphere but the children were laying and standing in their chairs, running around and not mine parent making them stop. This is why we chose on most cruises to eat in a specialty restaurant. Would we do it again, yes and will we cruise on norweigan again.....probably.......
Perfect space for the three of us. Nice decor, separate dressing area from bathroom. Large balcony with table and 4 chairs plus 2 lounge chairs with small table. The balcony and furniture was very clean. Had canapés delivered everyday. Our cabin steward did a great job.
