Do not even consider a Silversea cruise. It is a totally regrettable experience not to mention the added pain of the exorbitant cost.
The representations in Silversea's literature and website couldn't be further from the reality. We also relied on the agent's endorsement of its small ship cruising luxury and service etc and did not do our own research much to our cost and disappointment.
Three couples we met endured burst water pipes in their rooms during the night which flooded their floors. The entire ship had only freezing cold water for over 24 hours with absolutely no updates or communication from staff. We paid extra for a veranda suite on level 7 and were glad of the small extra space and air. The corridors on the lower levels smell damp and dirty. The laundry facilities are 4 washing machines, 2 of which were out of order for the entire cruise. Overall, the decor is very dated, sad and shabby.
