Forward:
To begin with I’m a regular guy and like everyone else works hard and really looks forward to a cruise where you get away from it all and enjoy yourself. My wife and I sailed on the Oasis in December (2015) and just returned from the Escape in June (2016). I’ve seen reviews about the wonderful things both ships have to offer but haven’t seen a brass tacks comparison for those trying to decide between the 2. I’m not a travel expert, so this is just a personal opinion for those looking for some practical insight as to what you get for what you pay. I will say that in my job I travel 75% of the time and so there are standard amenities I look for and expect for my travel dollar. I neither stay at the fanciest hotels nor do I have to eat at the finest restaurants - remember the regular guy thing?
Both are beautiful ships with many amenities and carry quite a large number of passengers and crew. We had a great time on both and enjoyed our vacations immensely. We got to know a lot of really great people, both passengers and crew.
3 ships in port that day - it was very crowded in the shopping area and if you crossed to the outside shops we mostly has to walk in the streets. In Bahamas fashion there were several 'barkers' trying to get us to come into their shops or down the alley to see their goods (didn't take the chance). Ship info said there was a beach within walking distance - I guess it would have been if you were an avid hiker - it was too hot so we didn't make it there and returned to the ship.
