Sail Date: May 2016

We have been on over 15 cruises in the past 13 years on a variety of lines, including Norweigian, Celebrity, Princess, Windstar, and Crystal, but this was our first Holland America cruise. We have always wanted to visit Amsterdam as well to see the Norwegian Fjords, so this cruise fit the bill. It has been a long time since we sailed in a brand new ship, and we were looking forward to that experience. In terms of the itinerary, this was an outstanding cruise. Also, I thought that the pricing was very reasonable. We stayed in one of the Vista suites.

I'm only going to comment on things that were different from other cruises we took.

Embarkation Process: Typical mayhem we have seen with other large-ship embarkation. It helped that there was a lot of seating at the Amsterdam cruise port. Baggage handling by the cruise ship was great. The bag actually arrived in your cabin before we did.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a wonderful city that would take weeks to explore fully. We stayed at DoubleTree by the main train station (Centraal Station). We thought the location of the hotel was perfect.
