We chose this cruise because it included the North Cape of Norway, the northernmost tip of Europe and went to several ports we had not been to.
Embarkation was excellent as was disembarkation. Minimal waiting time to get on and our cabin was ready for us immediately. Our luggage arrived very quickly.
We enjoyed this cruise 100%. The staff and the ship were first rate and it feels like a very happy ship. Everyone on board was very sociable with an international guest list of 1900 British, 600+ from USA, 120 Australians plus many other nationalities.
The old town is very pleasant to visit, even in the rain! Everything was easy to get to from our berth and we enjoyed a visit to the Cathedral (shame that the scaffolding obscured some of it). Plenty of shops in the town as well, as you would expect in the Oil Capital of Norway.
Easy to walk straight into town from the ship. A very nice harbour area and shopping area. We visited the Alesund Museum, which was very interesting.
Our visit was on a Sunday and not much was open. We did visit the very interesting Polar Museum. The Arctic Cathedral was closed most of the morning but you could take a cable car ride for a scenic view of the city. Despite being mainly closed, it seemed a very nice city.
We took the shuttle from our berth for $10 return. Some people walked into town.
A lovely city. Magnificent Cathedral and plenty to see on your way around. A royal visit on the day we were there added extra interest but Trondheim has a lot to offer a casual visitor.
We stayed overnight in a hotel but did not get much time to wander around. Easy to get to Portsmouth if you have the time and visit the historic dockyards.
